Who We’re Looking For

 

Residential Aide is responsible for a variety of routine, basic  tasks essential to the smooth operation of the facility and  surrounding  perimeter.  Other  duties associated with this position facilitate the treatment and rehabilitation of the residential client by assisting clients in overcoming anxieties, explaining available services,  obtaining  client  cooperation and encouraging program involvement. Residential Aides function under the supervision of the Program Director or Shift Supervisor.Work is performed in accordance with established regulations, policies and procedures, but employees are expected to exercise significant  initiative  and  independent  judgment  in discharging duties. Work is reviewed by the Program/Clinical Supervisor or Program Director through an evaluation of the timely and accurate completion of assignments.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities in this role may include

  • Supervision of client activities, maintains accurate entries in the log book, monitors client movement in sign-outs and passes  and  writes incident  reports; employee  iaware of client whereabouts at all times, including breaks and internal activities including  hourly checks/
  • Attend all mandatory DBH, OAS, DOC, DOH trainings and in-house conferences /seminars as directed by Program Director/, HR or
  • Maintains order and ensures compliance with rules and regulations; ensures that clients conduct themselves in an orderly manner
  • Monitors clients for signs of medical distress and /or emergency behavioral concerns on an ongoing basis and through routine hourly bed checks, responses and documents incididents or unusual occurrences.
  • Facilitates resident's morning meetings and " rap sessions " according to prescribed curriculum or
  • Escorts clients to breaks; and other
  • Ensures clients wake-up and out of room- bed time in room
  • Escorts clients and /or ensures client has approved colored coded passes and ID before leaving their unit within the building.
  • May be required to escort clients on store runs, when necessary, for the purchase of inpatient personal items.
  • Schedules and monitors clients' cleaning supplies, chores 
  • Gets mail daily, observes confidentiality standards and distributes
  • Observes clients consumption of medications, double-checks client medication log-sheets to ensure client consumption of medication.
  • Secures client urines according to established policy procedures ensuring  that all safety, sanitations and security measures are adhered Completes are required documentation on the urine form, and logs , secures and documents urinalysis screen in the log book.
  • Records accurate and up-to-date unit and client information writing behavioral progress in the log Log books are legal document s and as such must be dated, numbered , signed and completed on the hour!!
  • Continually updates Bcd List ensuring that all admissions and discharge are recorded in a timely
  • Performs routine client services such as stripping beds when necessary, keeping unit tidy, and bagging soap powder, assembling copies of requisite paperwork.
  • Randomly inspects all rooms , common areas, hallways and bathrooms on an hourly basis and documents these inspections in the unit log book; performs a thorough search for contraband not less than weekly.
  • Cleans and strips beds, bags linen to be laundered and clears out table drawers , after client is discharged from program.
  • Responds appropriately to all medical and other
  • Whenever assigned to drive agency vehicles for any reason, all Residential Aides are responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of Vehicles entrusted to their care as specified in the Gaudenzia DRC Vehicle Use Policy
  • Reports to the Program Director or supervisor any discrepancies in client 's whereaboutso r failure to return by curfew or anticipated time of return as recorded on the sign -out  sheet.
  • Conducts pat searches of all clients and uses hand-held metal detectors to scan client as they leave and return to the facility or unit, and records this on the appropriate log.
  • Confiscates and secures and contraband found, and notifies the appro,iate Program Director or supervisor on duty.
  • Conducts comprehensive and random room and unit searches with program management staff, when assigned.Conducts search of client bags when leaving and returning to the facility or unit , and records this on the appropriate log . Confiscates sand secures any contraband found. and notifies the appropriate Program Director or supervisor on duty in their absence.
  • Performs other duties, tasks, and sen 1ices for clients, safety , sanitation and security as assigned by the management in a professional, ethical and non-judgmental

Qualifications

Qualifications for This Role

High School Diploma or GED . Knowledge of D&A Abuse & Treatment.
